# Creating Materials

The first thing we need to do is make the material in Blender so we know where to put the polygons to color.

* Select your model.
* Select the 'Material' panel in the 'Properties window.
* Apply a material with the '+' at the top of the panel if it doesn't have one already.
* Rename the material by double clicking it.
* Select the Shading Tab at the top of the window.
* Go to 'Add / Texture / Image Texture' at the top of the "Shader Editor' window in order to add a texture Node.
* Import your color palette texture.
* Connect the node to the color parameter.
